Riguardo Simon
My passion is to help people to develop successful businesses and become effective leaders and communicators and have dedicated over 30 years to teaching and training in a very wide range of situations. As well as running my own training and coaching company, I have taught English in the UK and abroad for many years. I have worked at places like International House, The British School, and the British Council in Naples, as well as teaching English for Academic Purposes at the University of Newcastle. I hold a Master’s Degree in Media Technology for Teaching English as a Foreign Language (awarded with Distinction from the University of Newcastle, UK), In addition, I hold two post-graduate diplomas in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), and the CELTA Certificate in TEFL. I lived in Salerno and Naples for six years, before returning to the UK to study for my Master's and have recently moved back to Italy and now live in the beautiful hills between the Adriatic Sea and the Blue Mountains in Le Marche. I am fluent in Italian. I was a full-time English teacher for 8 years, and then after my Master's, I became a Department Manager for 8 years in Westminster Council’s Adult Learning Service, before then moving into a senior consultancy role at the University of London. As you can probably tell from my choice of Master’s degree, I value technology as a teaching and learning tool - it is so flexible, uses different media and shares resources easily, and is the most efficient use of our precious time. Consequently, I teach all my classes online using Zoom. I do also offer full immersion language retreats and host monthly English language dinners with my clients who live more locally. As well as my passion for teaching and training, I am also an accredited coach with over 15 years' professional experience coaching in private companies and large corporations. As a coach and trainer, I have worked all over the world in multinationals, such as Kimberley-Clark, Barclays, HSBC, institutions such as the National Health Service, and OXFAM, and numerous small and medium enterprises, helping them all to build greater success on their own terms. My experience both in the classroom and in business enables me to support my students from a unique perspective and I really understand what it takes to create success in the world of commerce. I support my students in developing the skills and confidence they need to be successful when working and communicating with international clients and colleagues. Finally, I love language and I love the power of stories. A few years ago, I co-authored a bestselling book on Amazon called Thresholds which celebrates people’s ability to step into the unknown and do things they never thought possible. My commitment to you is to do everything I can to help you overcome your challenges and achieve your goals - even if they don't always seem possible.

My language classes differ from many teachers as I work more holistically with my students. I believe that speaking a foreign language can feel challenging and takes courage and so I help my clients work on their mindset as well as developing the language skills and confidence to communicate fluently and effectively in real-world business situations. I am an expert in communication, particularly presentation skills, personal impact, influencing skills and rapport building, and help my students to develop their confidence for business meetings, sales presentations, interviews and negotiations and as well as socialising and networking both face-to-face and online. In my experience, no two students’ needs are the same, so all of my classes are as diverse as they are - designed to the specific needs of the individual and their sector. After assessing their level and agreeing on the specific outcomes that my students want to achieve, I create fun and stimulating sessions, so they learn the language while also mastering the skills of communication, confidence and self-expression. I ask my students to take responsibility for their own learning and all my students use an online platform to organise their private study and to communicate and share resources with me outside of our classes. The students’ starting level is not the most important thing - their mindset is much more a predictor of success and I do ask for commitment and focus from the people I work with. The secret to learning a language is like in life – we must be prepared to take risks and to make mistakes - so I create an environment which is fun and experimental. We cannot learn if we are not prepared to do things before we feel 100% ready to do them and I help my students to communicate by stimulating their desire to speak and then help them to find the language they need to express themselves – so their confidence grows, alongside their language skills, from being able to express themselves and be understood.

Perfetto! Ho conosciuto Simon tramite questa piattaforma, che dire un super insegnate mi sono trovato benissimo é una persona eccezionale ti fa appassionare a questa lingua in maniera divertente. Ogni lezione è entusiasmante e dinamica, grazie a lui sono riuscito a imparare una buona base di inglese e superare l’esame all’università posso solo che consigliarvi di andarci.
Perfetto! Seguire le lezioni di inglese di Simon è una autentica fortuna! Con un approccio completamente nuovo dai tratti concreti e amichevoli ti fa immergere nella lingua inglese con estrema naturalezza. Simon segue con attenzione il processo di apprendimento sia dal punto di vista qualitativo e sia da quello motivazionale. Sicuramente è tra le migliori esperienze di apprendimento che ho vissuto.

Ho avuto la fortuna di avere Simon come mio insegnante d’inglese e devo a lui la mia conoscenza della lingua. Per una persona a cui non piace studiare, io amavo ascoltare le sue lezioni.
