I love teaching languages because I am a student myself. I have many different methods, and have landed on some really effective ones! Language learning takes time, but it is such a rewarding process, and I really treasure being able to help my students on their journey to fluency!

I use methods like practicing describing objects or situations, recalling previously learned material, and working with the student to learn how to enrich their vocabulary through close reading and recreating simple sentences and ideas in more complex ways. I teach grammar though helping students to use new grammar skills actively with their own vocabulary to full integrate it into the knowledge they already have. I have found that this organic method of building knowledge of a language with the tools the students already have to be highly effective in retaining new words and concepts. I also do conversation practice, and will help the student with words they do not know to give them to ability to practice the flow of conversation without being held up by gaps in the vocabulary, as being able to think in the moment, which is best taught during conversation, is crucial for fluency.
