Riguardo Wayne
I'm a South African writer, journalist, and actor who relocated to Italy after years of living and working in South Africa, on a boat, in Malta, and now in Italy. I have three university degrees (in Languages, Drama, and Film Studies) and a Level 5 TEFL qualification. I've taught at college level, written professionally, and performed on screen and stage.
I live in Italy with my Italian partner, which means English is, genuinely, the foreign language in our house. I find that keeps me honest as a teacher.

Sono un insegnante madrelingua di inglese, con certificazione TEFL di livello 5, residente a Piacenza. Le lezioni si svolgono interamente in inglese.
I have a BA in Languages (Journalism), a BA in Drama, and a BA (Hons) in Film Studies. Which means I've spent most of my adult life studying how humans communicate - and the rest of it doing it professionally, across journalism, screenwriting, and acting. This experience shapes how I teach.
I'm also, right now, learning Italian. That matters more than it sounds. I know the false friends that trip Italian speakers up in English ("eventually" is not "eventualmente", "actually" is not "attualmente"). I know which grammar structures don't map cleanly between the two languages. And I know exactly what it feels like to understand something and still freeze when you have to say it out loud.
How lessons are structured
My approach is level-dependent, not one-size-fits-all.
- Beginner: Foundations built through real-life situations, not grammar tables. We introduce structure in context, so it's easy to understand, and so it sticks.
- Intermediate: This is where most students get stuck. You understand English but don't yet fully trust yourself to use it. We focus on fluency over perfection - getting comfortable with imperfection first, then refining from there.
- Advanced: Register, nuance, professional confidence. Emails that land, presentations that don't sound scripted, meetings where you sound considered rather than translated.
Across all levels I use authentic materials tailored to your preferences (such as films, TV, podcasts, articles) because real English sounds different from textbook English.
I also give lessons tailored specific to Business English.
