After years of teaching, I got to understand my learners and focus more on their needs rather than the content or the goal itself. It eventually proved to bring better results than the formal, 'to a T' approach.
I try to tailor my lessons based on the first encounter with a new learner - every learner is unique, so should be the lesson flow and content.
So far, I realized that the most productive style is 'free style' - the student must feel relaxed, confident and interested in order to learn. Therefore, I try to do my best to create a cozy, warm atmosphere to facilitate the learning and reduce stress.
We just have to remember what it is like to learn our mother tongue, that is, without clear intention or dedication, but rather spontaneously and in a fun, relaxing environment
