Riguardo Silvia Anna
Working for language companies in Rome, Abu Dhabi and Singapore I have acquired a unique skill set in teaching senior professionals. I consider teaching Business English and English Coaching to be my foremost relevant skills and have specific experience in teaching, phone language, writing emails and presentations. Twelve years living abroad has afforded me the practical know-how to excel in Cross-Cultural environments. I made it my personal goal to increase student talk time to promote fluency, limit interruptions to build confidence and encourage self-correction to reinforce language retention while students continued to improve their practical listening, reading, writing and speaking skills. I welcome student feedback and continue to improve my strategies for overcoming common learning barriers. My talent in developing meaningful professional relationships with students allows me a vehicle through which I target interests and use them to write professionally relevant course material. I have experience and excel in creating my own lesson plans, modifying lesson plans and in following method-based strategic material. My past experience with leading consultancy firms and defense companies has provided me the opportunity to work with and for the very same professionals, I coach. This experience gives me an edge in understanding specific student needs.

My background includes proficiency in direct method teaching, communicative language teaching, task-based language learning, and the silent method. I've taught students of more than 10 different nationalities. I have taught in both independent and collaborative classroom settings where I developed my skills writing new material and utilizing accredited reference and practice books for true beginners to advanced and executive level students. I was awarded my CELTA certificate in 2013 at the British Council, Abu Dhabi. While living abroad I freelanced offering one to one and group lessons tailoring course material to students ranging in professional backgrounds in law, healthcare, engineering, and higher education. I continue to offer Skype lessons with a focus on introducing material of cultural, professional and personal relevance to students who seek to improve fluency for business purposes.
