"A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies. The man who never reads lives only one." — George R.R. Martin
Analyzing literature isn't about memorizing arbitrary summaries for an exam — it's about learning how books connect to real-life issues, global themes, and the human experience. When you understand why a text matters, writing top-grade essays becomes second nature.
I don't treat English as a passive subject. I help students discover the excitement in decoding complex texts — connecting themes like power, identity, and ethics to modern global issues and their own lives. From there, we translate that passion into structured, sharp arguments that consistently score high on mark schemes.
My Approach
Real-World & Global Context: Bringing texts to life by connecting literary themes to current events, philosophy, and real-world human dynamics so analysis feels relevant and engaging.
Developing Genuine Passion: Shifting literature from a dry assignment into an active discussion where you build confidence in expressing your own unique perspective.
Essay Architecture & Exam Precision: Turning insightful ideas into bulletproof thesis statements, structured comparative essays, and high-scoring Paper 1/Paper 2 commentary.
What I Teach
IB English: Language & Literature / Literature (SL & HL) — Paper 1, Paper 2, and IA/EE guidance
IGCSE / GCSE: English Language & English Literature
Academic & Scientific English: Essay structuring, critical writing, and advanced academic communication
