Teaching statements
Teaching is considered a worthwhile job that not only can have a positive effect on the new generation but also teachers. I had the opportunity to gain experience and develop my own perspective on educating by teaching calculus, probability and statistics, numerical analysis, and linear algebra to undergraduates. Indeed, after seven years of education- as a teaching assistant and lecturer for undergraduate students in universities and schools- I discovered that learning requires a peaceful and friendly environment, a well-planned program, motivation, etc. Therefore, my ideology toward education is explained as follows.
Peacefulness is essential in a class because students’ minds can grow efficiently in this environment. Fear is an obstacle that prohibits learning, so the students cannot follow the subject rigorously. Indeed, the students must ensure that nobody will judge, compare, or punish them if they make a mistake or present their doubts, ideas, or questions several times. For example, in my previous lectures, some students used to ask plenty of questions associated with the subject in the course. I always welcomed them and tried to patiently and accurately provide the answers to satisfy and resolve their doubts. Because of my reaction, other class students also became motivated to actively ask questions and contribute to the class.
Moreover, motivation is a motor of learning. As far as I understood, if tutors are wisely close to the students, they will discover the motivation keys of the class. As far as I have learned, presenting different examples around the teaching subject and providing application of the issue in nature or the parts of daily life, industry, modern technology, and so one can boost the motor.
Further, the most critical part of teaching is planning which should be allocated to the exhibition of the whole plane of the semester course in the first session of each class and displaying a detailed plan of each subject. The course will be finished on time with well-planning, but also, they can strengthen the class’s potential. Indeed, a plan chart explains what the students will learn in the lecture. For example, why and how is the subject practical? How is the subject defined and expressed from a mathematical point of view? How is it connected to the other previously studied issues? Which types of questions can be presented associated with the subject?
I also found that a preview with the chart caused my students to be more ambitious in following the course and enquire many questions initially. But on the other hand, I observed that apathetic students were fascinated by the math subjects with that chart and were provoked to follow the path anxiously. Consequently, it also affects teachers’ education. According to my experience, in an energetic class with a system of questions and answers, the teacher will be highly evoked to study more and, especially, describe the issue with new methods, provide recent fascinating and challenging examples of the subject, enhancing the knowledge level of the students.

Furthermore, parallel to establishing the chart, recalling the last subject at the beginning of each class would be tremendously valuable. For example, I consistently employed a short question in my previous tutoring. I believe that question exceeds the students’ concentration, and consequently, their mind is inclined to learn and analyze upcoming subjects deeply efficiently.
Another beneficial task is homework for students. Providing a few constructive questions and employing encouraging methods will stimulate the students to complete and solve them. Moreover, as a result, it would assist them in deep learning and precisely memorizing it.
In addition, collaboration is one of the essential factors in learning. Collaboration is not only constructive but also challenging in a positive sense. It is considered constructive since students learn the concepts finer from each other. On the other hand, it can be challenging since it can be regarded as rivalry when each student endeavors to comprehend and describe the subject for other students differently and more coherently. Collaboration between the students assists weak students to take benefit also to learn and enquire their doubts on the lecture from their colleagues even outside of the classroom. I took benefit of this method as both a student and a tutor.
In summary, what I alluded to above is my opinion on teaching. However, some other points should be considered, like the role of the student’s parents, the culture of the environment, etc. Nevertheless, with my approach, I achieved many positive results, such as more than eighty-five percent of passed students for each course, finding high evaluation scores from students in the final exams of each class held by the university, and increasing the demand for teaching in different departments and universities as a lecturer.
