My favorite part of teaching has always been developing a rapport with my students, and guiding them to their breakthrough moments. Seeing the light bulb illuminate for them when a connection is made, a phenomenon understood or a challenging problem gets solved is a wonderful feeling. Being able to share my passion for science and help foster a sense of beauty and wonder about the natural world is amazing.

Success starts with meeting students where they're at.
Complex problems get broken down, with an emphasis on process-driven solutions, helping students confront a variety of problem types.
By reinforcing fundamentals, we create good habits.
The ability to "zoom in" and "zoom out" helps students achieve a conceptual understanding, while recognizing the finer nuances leading to problem-solving success.
Relating problem topics to observable phenomena, grounding everything in personal experience, helps in understanding.
Including laboratory experiences, mathematics review and calculator skills, means nothing gets lost along the way.
Lesson structure is student-driven, depending on the task at hand, everything from drill and practice, to qualitative or conceptual discussions. Degree of difficulty and complexity determined by the student's needs.
