Riguardo Festus Onyeka
I am Festus, a Nigerian-born mathematician and statistician currently based in Bologna, Italy, where I am completing an MSc in Statistical Sciences at the University of Bologna under the supervision of Prof. Christian Hennig — one of Europe's leading statisticians. Before moving to Italy I taught Mathematics at Silvergate International School in Lagos, an IB international school, and spent three years tutoring undergraduate students in mathematics and statistics at university level. I also trained public health professionals in statistical analysis at a government health agency in Nigeria — an experience that showed me, concretely, how much the quality of mathematical and statistical understanding matters in the real world.
I love mathematics because it is honest. A well-constructed proof reveals something true about the world that could not have been seen any other way. What draws me to teaching is the moment a student who thought they could not do maths suddenly realises they can — and that the ideas actually make sense. I have seen that moment many times across many different students and contexts, and it never gets old.
I am patient, warm, and genuinely invested in the progress of every student I work with. I believe that every student can succeed in mathematics with the right explanation, the right pace, and a teacher who takes their questions seriously. Outside of teaching and research I enjoy public speaking, reading, and exploring Bologna — a city I have come to love deeply.

I offer personalised, engaging Mathematics and Statistics lessons tailored to each student's level, pace, and learning goals. Whether you are preparing for IB MYP or Diploma exams, IGCSE, A-Level, university-level statistics, or simply looking to strengthen your foundations, I design every session around what you specifically need — not a generic curriculum.
My lessons combine clear explanation, worked examples, and guided practice. I do not just show you how to solve a problem — I make sure you understand why the method works, so you can apply it confidently in any exam or real-world situation. I am patient, encouraging, and committed to helping every student build genuine understanding and lasting confidence in mathematics.
I hold a First Class Honours BSc in Statistics and am completing an MSc in Statistical Sciences at the University of Bologna. I have taught Mathematics at Silvergate International School Lagos, an IB international school, and have several years of university-level tutoring experience. I am a native English speaker and conduct all lessons in English.
Topics I cover include: algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, probability, statistics, data analysis, mathematical modelling, regression, time series, and IB Mathematics Analysis & Approaches or Applications & Interpretation at both Standard and Higher Level.
Lessons are available online via video call, flexible to your schedule, and can be booked as one-off sessions or regular weekly classes. First session students are welcome — let us start with a short diagnostic conversation so I can understand exactly where you are and where you want to go.
