Riguardo Nikoloz
Hi, I'm Nika! I am a Mechanical Engineering graduate from the University of Edinburgh (Upper Second Class Honours) and a high-achieving IB Diploma Alum. Having recently completed my degree, I moved to Rome and am excited to help the next generation of students navigate the challenges of STEM subjects.
Why study with me? Because I’ve been exactly where you are. I know that the IB and SATs can feel overwhelming, but I also know how to beat them. I achieved an IB score of 40/45 (placing me in the top 10% worldwide) and an SAT score of 1480/1600 (top 2% worldwide). These results weren't just about hard work; they were about using the right strategies—strategies I now share with my students.
My background isn't just theoretical. I have designed autonomous robotics nodes in ROS 2, built 3D graphics engines from scratch in Rust, and even helped manufacture a DIY wind turbine. I bring this "real-world" engineering lens to every lesson, making abstract physics and math concepts feel tangible and exciting.
I am a native-level English speaker (C2) and am also fluent in Georgian and decent in Spanish (B2). Whether you are looking for an intensive 2-month "bootcamp" to prep for exams or long-term support to master a difficult subject, I am here to help you reach your full potential.

My lessons are specifically designed for high school students (ages 14–18) navigating rigorous academic curricula, including the IB Diploma Program (SL/HL), AP, and A-Levels. I also offer specialized mentoring for younger students (ages 11–14) looking to build a strong foundation in Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science (Python/C++/Rust).
Teaching techniques and methods: As a recent Mechanical Engineering graduate from the University of Edinburgh, my approach is built on "First Principles" thinking. I don't just teach students to memorize formulas; I teach them to understand the why behind the physics and math.
The "IB Survivor" Perspective: Having achieved a 40/45 IB score, I provide students with the specific exam techniques, time-management strategies, and internal assessment (IA) tips that helped me reach the top 10% worldwide.
Active Problem Solving: I use a hands-on approach where students tackle increasingly complex problems while I provide real-time feedback on their logic and notation.
Carrying out a typical lesson: A standard 60-minute session is divided into three clear phases:
Recall & Review (10 mins): We start by addressing blockers from school homework or previous sessions to ensure no gaps in knowledge persist.
Concept Deep-Dive (30 mins): I break down new or difficult topics (e.g., Calculus, Thermodynamics, or Data Structures) using visual aids and real-world engineering examples.
Exam Simulation (20 mins): We apply the concept to past-paper questions, focusing on how to maximize marks according to specific marking rubrics (IB/SAT/AP).
Didactic specificities: I leverage my background in robotics and software development to make STEM subjects feel tangible. Whether we are discussing the physics of a "Random Walk" algorithm or the structural mechanics of a mechatronic system, I bridge the gap between abstract textbook theory and real-world application.

Nika used to tutor me in calculus during university. He is really passionate about his subjects but also very calm and patient. He focuses on the core concepts and the logic behind them. He helped me improve my abstract thinking a lot during the one year he was my tutor. I can only recommend him!
